Procedure, sequence of actions for isolating the supply or effect of energy, or the supply of hazardous substances, to work equipment when carrying out assembly, maintenance and repair work. The aim of the procedure is to reduce as much as possible the likelihood of accidents that may be caused by unauthorised start-up of equipment, energy supply, hazardous substances entering the work zone, etc.
